Hello! I'm Haru, a fashion geek!

As I hinted at yesterday, today I'll be introducing
this item that I use regularly myself!

Starting with the Teddy Boys in 1950s England,

right through to the later punk scene,

creepers (rubber-soled shoes) have been
a beloved staple for decades.

This pair is calmanthology's unique take
on that iconic silhouette.

The term "creeper" implies someone who sneaks up,

and the thick crepe soles earned the name
because they allowed you to creep around
without making a sound.

By the way, apparently the Creeper from Minecraft
gets its name from this too, haha.

The roots of these creeper boots are also fascinating.

They are said to be based on the rubber-soled shoes
worn by British soldiers after WWII,

which then spread into London youth culture,
becoming a quintessential style element
for the "Teddy Boys," a well-known
group of rebels at the time.

When I watch movies from the 70s to the 90s,

it strikes me that the fashion of rebels and teenagers
of that era felt much more energetic than it does today.

There was a strength in resisting the societal
frustrations of the time, not through violence,

but through subcultural styles like the
street and punk scenes.

The Teddy Boy style itself began with youth
taking the elegant attire of the previous era
(the Edwardian style) and arranging it
with a rebellious, rowdy twist.

You can really feel the "heat" or energy
infused in it through fashion.

Personally, the reason I got into fashion

was partly out of a rebellious desire
to "change myself" or "prove people wrong."

The beauty of fashion is being able to transform into
a version of yourself that’s different from usual,
which is why I'm so drawn to items
that have such a tangible backstory.

And when you have an interpretation like this
from calmanthology, you just can't go wrong!

These CREEPERS BOOTS, proposed with an elegance
and a sensitivity unique to the Japanese perspective,
take a symbol of rebellion and make it
a pair perfectly suited for us living today.

They retain the classic impression of creeper boots
while finishing with a modern touch through
traditional triple-monk details.

This isn't just a simple recreation of a past item;

it's a piece that changes your everyday look
through an expression that is only possible now,
thanks to calmanthology.

The leather used is a glazed leather
crafted by a French tannery with
70 years of history.

Glazed leather is made by shaving the surface of
tanned leather to smooth it out before resin coating it.
In the process of applying the glaze, they aim to
have it melt into the grain (the outer surface of the hide)
so that it becomes one with the leather.

It’s a piece that retains the profound quality
and character that only a long-established
manufacturer could achieve, quite different
from conventional glazed leathers.

The atmosphere it creates is unlike previous
calmanthology pieces, perfectly capturing
that "bad boy" vibe of creeper boots.

As for how they actually feel to wear,

when I first chose these, I wasn't used to the weight,

so it felt a bit unfamiliar, but you get used to it quickly.

Actually, because they have a weight to them, much like
a mountain boot, your feet are stable when you land,

so I find I don't use unnecessary muscles,
making them comfortable even when walking for a long time.

They are easy to style with any outfit;

they work great to break up a set-up like a Teds style,
and they look incredible with shorts too!

By the way, the designer, Mr. Kaneko, taught me a trick
to tuck only the front hem of your pants into the boots,

creating a gathered look, and it's become a huge highlight
for my daily styling!!

I've rambled on, but these CREEPERS BOOTS are filled
with that much "heat," and you're not going to see
anyone else wearing them.

The real thrill of fashion is taking a one-of-a-kind
design and making it your own.

If you're interested, please come by and
try them on for yourself!
