Hello! I'm Haru, a fashion geek!

Have you ever found yourself
longing for the outfits worn by characters in movies?

On the other side of the screen,

there's a world that exists
beyond our everyday reality,

and through the perspectives of characters other than ourselves,
we can even get a sense of their atmosphere and values.

Whether it's the story, the camerawork, or the music,

there are many elements to enjoy
when watching a movie,

but "fashion" is something
that you simply cannot separate from it.

Even if you watch a movie and think,
"That outfit looks stylish,"

it's actually quite rare to feel a genuine "longing"
for it.

Perhaps it's because modern films often feature styling
that's close to our daily lives,

making them feel somewhat
too familiar.

In that sense, I've long been drawn to
detective and action movies from around the 1980s.

They are filled with rugged, gritty atmospheres,
yet they possess a certain charm in their style

—the kind of fashion you don't really see
in this day and age.

That is exactly why
there are many outfits I "long" for,

and among them, the one that attracts me most
is "suspenders."

Suspenders are not fastened with a belt,

but are straps used to hold up trousers
by hanging them from the shoulders,

with roots that trace back to late 18th-century
(circa 1780s) Britain and France.

It seems they originated as "shoulder straps"
used by laborers and farmers back then

to keep their baggy, high-waisted trousers
functional and comfortable.

I’ve admired the movie characters who wear these historically rich suspenders so stylishly,

and I've thought "I want to wear them!" many times,
but because they are quite a niche item,

I could never find them.

You find them in vintage shops
from time to time,

but they tend to be formal, traditional pieces
rather than fashion items,

so you can't really wear them in a real-world setting.

Because of that, I couldn't challenge myself to wear suspenders,

my desire just kept growing, and
last year, when that item came up
as a proposal for a special-order project,

I was absolutely thrilled!

To think that I would become a sign staff member
and get to propose an item I've longed for,

and a special-order one at that…

isn't that just the best?

Since suspenders aren't typical "real clothes,"

I'm sure some of you might be wondering,
"How do you even wear them?"

If I continue, I think this blog will
become quite long,

so, with that in mind, I’d like to dive deeper
into the special-order item in tomorrow's blog.

Please look forward to tomorrow's blog!
