Hello! It’s Haru, a fashion nerd!!
Have you ever thought,
"I want to wear that outfit
the character was wearing!"?
It's not just movies—I'm sure any guy has thought about wanting to wear what their favorite artist or
anime character (like a black long coat) wears!
Back in junior high, I fell in love with a protagonist who wore a black long coat and fought with dual swords.
I admired that look so much that I immediately went to WEGO to hunt for a similar coat, only to end up in despair when it didn’t suit me at all.
I truly feel that people are creatures who grow stronger by repeating such setbacks...
I often focus more on fashion when watching movies.
It’s interesting to see how fashion differs depending on the styling and the era in which it was produced, as the trends and characteristics of the time are vividly reflected.
Among them, I especially love works from the 80s and 90s.
Whether it’s action movies where a muscle-bound ex-special forces agent solves everything,
or cop movies taking on the mafia or drug syndicates, the works that symbolize the era are all unique.
The stories are interesting, and since it was an era before CG, the ingenuity of the production team and the expressions that can't be done today are irresistible, so if you're interested, please watch them!!
Among those 80s films, there is a work with many fans called "Lethal Weapon," and
It's a so-called buddy movie featuring Riggs, a wild card who transferred from the narcotics division, teaming up with Murtaugh, a Black detective.
I love this movie, and Mel Gibson, who plays the lead character Riggs, is just so cool!
In the film, Riggs (Mel Gibson) often wears outfits that symbolize American casual style; his style of pairing a red plaid shirt with denim really captured my heart as a guy.
His partner, Murtaugh (Danny Glover), wears suits with white shirts and ties,
showing off a serious personality while Riggs sticks to the exact opposite style.
When I was in high school, I didn't know much about fashion yet and thought shirts were items you had to "wear seriously."
However, Riggs' way of wearing them—wrinkling the shirt, choosing patterns and colors—shocked me, and my narrow-minded high-school self admired that look so much that I
immediately went to WEGO to hunt for a similar shirt, only to fall into despair again because it didn't suit me at all.
What was reflected in the mirror wasn't the cool Riggs I admired, but just an otaku on Otaku Road... lol
I once again truly realized that people are creatures who grow stronger by repeating such setbacks, and he never wore that plaid shirt again.
However!
Unlike the past when I didn't know fashion and couldn't tell the difference between good and bad,
I’ve now become a fine fashionista, which is exactly why!!
I’ve started to feel like I want to try plaid again!
I have many comrades at the store who also give up because they think plaid is difficult to pull off, so
I'd like to take this opportunity to convey the appeal of a certain plaid shirt.
Let’s get right to the item introduction...
OUAT
-OFFICE SHIRTS -
col.BROWN
col.BLACK
A garment tailored as a neutral shirt, made from a mixed wool with a beautiful ombre plaid pattern.
The material, created by combining fibers with various properties such as fluffy soft wool and acrylic,
not only has a great texture but also contains the warmth that is perfect for the cold season ahead.
Plaid shirts at vintage shops use fabrics from many years ago, so they can be stiff,
or they retain the atmosphere of that time, which I think leads many people to feel that they are too "manly" or "rugged," making them difficult to wear or feel like they don't suit them.
However,
OUAT is a contemporary fashion brand.
While it evokes design from past items,
the texture and design offer a sophisticated, mature impression that isn't too casual, possible only because it's being made now.
Because it is constructed as an item of "now" rather than the past,
it is a plaid shirt that suits us living in the modern day.
I actually tried it on, and as expected, this OUAT item
is easy to wear simply on its own or as an accent to a styling.
If there is anyone out there who, like me, tried and gave up on plaid shirts in the past,
I highly recommend trying out an OUAT item just once!
Before, I thought I’d look cool just by wearing a plaid shirt and ended up failing because it didn't suit me, but years have passed and it might just be the item that "suits me because I am who I am today."
