Hello! I'm Haru, a fashion geek!!
Lately, I've been introducing
only starring-role items,
so today I want to change things up and introduce
a supporting item that can make
the pieces you already own
feel fresh and interesting.
No matter how excellent a lead item is,
it won't work without something to highlight it.
Especially since overall balance is
key in styling, you shouldn't just focus on one thing.
At a time like now, when many of you
have built up a collection of great items,
this is an unmistakable piece that stands out as an inner layer
but can also be worn entirely on its own.
That item is...
MEIAS
-SILK HENLEY NECK PULL OVER / SLPO-
col.BLACK
col.NAVY
The neck is clean and very easy to wear,
and while it’s an accessible item,
the henley neck is surprisingly rare
to see around town.
When I suggest this item at the store,
"I don't know how to style it"
I hear that comment here and there, but
personally, I strongly feel
"it's actually easier than a shirt!"
Looking into the history of the henley neck
is actually quite interesting.
The roots of the henley neck
lie in 19th-century England.
It originated from the uniforms worn by rowers
in the "Henley Royal Regatta,"
a traditional boat race held in
Henley-on-Thames, a town along the River Thames.
The buttons on the front were added
to allow for ease of movement,
and that became the basis for the design
we now call the henley neck!
Indeed, henley neck items are
all easy to move in,
closer to the feeling of wearing a long-sleeve T-shirt,
but the buttons at the neck add variety.
It's the perfect balance—not too dressed up,
but not as casual as a long-sleeve tee.
As for the clean neckline, since people
aren't used to it,
some might find it a bit resistant at first.
However,
if you think of it as existing on the same
spectrum as a long-sleeve tee—unlike
more classical items like shirts—
it's easy to incorporate into your daily life.
I think it's groundbreaking if you consider that it sets you apart
from ordinary T-shirts and adds an accent to your styling!
Also, regarding the sizing,
since the item was born for ease of movement,
even if you wear it a bit tight, it doesn't feel restrictive.
In fact, if a muscular guy wears it
a bit tight on its own
with a casquette hat,
he'd definitely be a chick magnet,
thinks a 23-year-old guy
who's never had a girlfriend.
What's more, MEIAS, which I'm introducing here,
is a brand that specializes in knitwear.
They've poured years of technical expertise into this,
so it's not just about having great stretch and comfort.
As the product name states, it uses 100% silk thread,
a high-end material,
luxuriously knitted with 2-ply yarn. The collar is knitted with a jersey pouch stitch, and the front opening is knitted in a rounded shape.
I've heard of wool or cotton henleys,
but a 100% silk knit is an extremely
luxurious, wickedly good item.
The cuffs incorporate the detail of military
henley neck shirts,
adding a transition between ribs and half-cardigan stitch.
Since it uses silk, it's obviously perfect as an inner layer,
but the luster of the silk is so beautiful that
I also highly recommend it as a standalone piece.
And, even though it's silk, it's hand-washable,
so you can enjoy it all year round.
That said, in terms of warmth,
honestly, there isn't much.
That's exactly why, at this time of year,
you should combine it with the outers and inner layers
already in your closet to add an accent to your styling
and elevate it to greater heights.
At this point in time, when you've gathered
so many different items,
the MEIAS henley neck is the perfect, essential piece
I really want you to choose!!
By the way, the price is
¥36,000 + tax.
With its trifecta of being silk, a knit, and wearable all year round,
this is a must-see item!
