Hello everyone! It’s Haru, your resident fashion geek!
As I teased yesterday, today I’m going to talk about that
one ideal piece brought to life by the
two designers at IRENISA.
Let’s jump right into the item introduction.
IRENISA
-HALF-SLEEVED T-SHIRT-
col. WHITE
col. BLACK
You might look at the photos and think it’s just an
ordinary, unassuming T-shirt, but
this piece is packed with IRENISA’s
obsessive attention to detail.
When you choose a T-shirt,
what do you prioritize?
There are many factors like comfort, silhouette,
and care instructions, but
this is the ultimate destination for a simple T-shirt
that scores a 120 out of 100 on every metric.
That might sound like an exaggeration,
but I’m actually understating it.
I’ve mentioned before on the blog that IRENISA
is incredibly particular about their fabrics,
and you can really feel that dedication
in this T-shirt as well!
The fabric is made using high-twist cotton
from the Wakayama region, resulting in
a material that has a firm, crisp structure,
yet maintains that plush, soft feel
against the skin that only high-quality cotton has...
Because this item touches your skin directly
more than knits or outerwear in the coming season,
you will truly be able to appreciate that quality.
Furthermore, there seems to be a secret not just
in the raw materials, but in the knitting method itself.
Have you ever heard of a material called
double-faced "set-ketsu" knitting?
I hadn't heard of this technique before,
so I did some research.
Set-ketsu is a knitting process where
two layers of fabric are bonded together,
and its major characteristics are its
fluffy softness and pleasant feel against the skin.
Usually, knitting techniques aren't commonly used
to make T-shirts, but by adopting this method,
they achieve a comfort level beyond standard tees.
Even the bonding thread, which often uses
synthetic fibers (polyester or nylon),
is made of the same cotton as the base material,
retaining the benefits of natural fibers while
providing an attractive, voluminous resilience.
I’ve talked about the fabric and material, and I hope you can understand
how amazing this item is—but I’m not finished yet.
Personally, the biggest appeal of this item
is the silhouette.
The structure around the sleeves, a crystallization
of IRENISA’s high-level pattern-making skills,
is a modified sleeve design that seems to apply
the brand’s signature "modified sleeve" technique.
It looks like a set-in sleeve from the front,
but utilizes the structural principles of
a raglan sleeve to create a shoulder design
that fits anyone perfectly—truly the ultimate piece.
Whether you are slender like me
or have a broader build,
it drops along your natural shoulder line regardless.
It's not that anyone can wear it because it's generic;
it's that it becomes a silhouette that suits "you."
Design-wise, the artificial leather cord at the neckline adds an accent,
alongside the sculptural sleeve pattern work and the
delicate design of varying the collar width between the front and back.
Personally, this T-shirt reminds me of
luxury brands, and precisely because it’s simple,
you can feel the professional attention to detail throughout.
At ¥20,000 + tax, it’s a fair price for a T-shirt,
but I can say with confidence that it’s worth it!!
It’s the kind of obsession only true clothes-lovers will understand.
Since it will be a staple piece for the coming season,
please take a moment to choose something you’re truly particular about.
