Hello! I'm Haru, a total clothing nerd!
"It's gotta be a shirt, right?"
As the temperatures rise, I’ve been
truly appreciating the practicality of shirts,
and that familiar, recurring shirt-craving
has returned once again.
If you were to ask, "Why push shirts so much?"
I’d probably reply, "Well, because I love them, haha,"
but of course, there are solid reasons for it.
It’s getting steadily warmer, and there are even days
where it feels downright hot.
When that happens, your eyes naturally
drift toward short-sleeved items,
but that’s a trap.
While choosing short sleeves this time of year
isn't necessarily wrong,
the nights are still chilly, and we're actually
a little ways off from properly enjoying short sleeves.
That's exactly why, if you choose a long-sleeved shirt "now,"
you can roll up the sleeves on hot days,
and if it’s cold, you can just wear them down.
Plus, they aren't just for spring and summer—you can use them
as an inner layer for outerwear in the autumn and winter,
making them one of the best value-for-money items
in any wardrobe, in my opinion.
Even though they all fall under the broad category of "shirts,"
no two are exactly alike, and the character
changes from brand to brand,
which is why you can never have too many.
The reason I love shirts so much is precisely
because they are items that make it easy
to express my own "individuality,"
which is a huge part of the appeal.
For school or work, you have to wear a shirt
fully buttoned and tucked in, following strict rules.
But in fashion, you can choose from various fabrics,
colors, and patterns,
whether you roll up the sleeves or wear it oversized—
you’re free to choose and express your personality.
That’s the part of it
that I find so attractive.
This introduction has become quite long,
but today, among the "shirts" that keep
a clothing nerd like me stuck in the swamp of obsession,
I’d like to introduce one that feels basic
yet has something unique about it.
Let’s get right to it.
Blanc YM
-Soft Oxford Wide Shirts -
col.Beige
col.Navy
This wide shirt, which is a staple
for the brand, has been updated
and released for this season.
By adding a slight slope to the shoulders
and designing a wider shoulder width,
it creates a more natural and
relaxed silhouette.
Furthermore, by narrowing the width of the felled seams
(the seam allowances at the sides),
and adjusting the stitch pitch to be finer,
it achieves a balance that feels delicate
even while being oversized.
It’s a piece where the "roughness and elegance"
that are typical of Blanc YM coexist.
Also, the back panel is cut slightly larger,
so when seen from the side or back, it has a presence
like a light outer layer that breaks the mold of a shirt,
which is another one of its charms.
While it has a simple design,
you can really feel the difference
in the silhouette when worn.
The fabric is an Oxford cloth woven in the
Enshu region of Shizuoka.
By using fine-count high-quality Indian cotton threads,
it suppresses the casual look usually found
in common Oxford fabrics,
achieving a subtle luster and
a smooth touch.
The moderate thickness makes it wearable year-round,
which is a point I appreciate as a shirt lover.
Additionally, by applying a one-wash process
after production,
it has a natural and soft texture.
It is a versatile wide shirt that works
perfectly on its own or as a light layer.
Because it is so basic, its look changes drastically
depending on how you wear it and what you layer underneath,
making it a piece you'll want to add to your wardrobe
regardless of the season.
Of course, we carry a variety of other shirts
besides the Blanc YM one introduced today,
so please try to find your ideal 1 piece!
