Hello! I'm Haru, a fashion fanatic!
We’ve just received an item from
"Shuzo Matsuhashi," the brand helmed by
Shuzo Matsuhashi,
that I have personally been
looking forward to for a long time.
Starting with the Spring/Summer 2026 season,
Shuzo Matsuhashi is a brand to watch.
The designer gained experience as an
assistant at the Japanese unisex fashion
brand "YANTOR,"
and also participated as an intern at Loewe.
The pieces sold out immediately last season,
and while many of you may not know
this brand yet,
it's already so popular that there is
only one piece left this season.
I'm going to talk in detail today
about an item that I personally
really want.
It's going to be a long one, but
please stick with me to the end, haha.
The theme for the Shuzo Matsuhashi
26AW collection is
"Human Clothing."
Born from the realization of human-ness
within the casual act of "changing clothes,"
the collection continues to focus on
daily life, just like last season.
The inspiration for this came from
a book the designer read while staying
in Vienna:
『The Future We Choose:
Surviving the Climate Crisis』
by Christiana Figueres and
Tom Rivett-Carnac.
It is based on a short essay written by
Mr. Takahashi after reading the book,
titled "What will people wear in a future where
global warming has raised the average temperature by over 3°C?"
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, online interaction
is no longer just an alternative—it is becoming
a new foundation for our lives.
Furthermore, if climate change makes the
outdoor environment more harsh,
people might end up spending more time
in comfortable virtual spaces—
The designer imagined such a future.
In a world where everyone can have an
avatar that looks exactly how they want,
you could live another life while wearing
loungewear in an air-conditioned room.
You could freely enjoy wearing gorgeous
dresses or 30cm heels that would be
hard to wear in reality,
and there would be no need to worry about
clothes getting dirty, damaged, or washed.
While envisioning that future, the designer
re-realized that the very act of "changing clothes"
is human and lovely.
Waking up in the morning, choosing clothes,
putting them on, going about the day,
and then changing again.
That act, which is so natural to us, is a
fleeting moment formed within the ordinary
everyday life that only humans possess.
Because even such normalcy changes with
the times and might "someday" be lost,
the designer felt it was very precious.
Based on that thought, the "Human Clothing"
collection for this season
was created with the "flow of changing clothes,"
transitioning from loungewear to suits,
as one of its themes.
Imagining the near future while returning to
a "fragment" of our current daily life.
Born from that perspective, this Shuzo Matsuhashi
season is conceptual, yet warm in a way
that everyone can relate to in their daily lives.
The item that arrived in this 26AW 1st delivery
perfectly reflects that concept,
and it’s honestly the number one item
I want right now!
Honestly, I don't want this item to sell out.
That's how much passion I have for this
incredible piece.
The introduction has been quite long,
but let's get straight to the item!
Shuzo Matsuhashi
-Ts Knit in Wool-
It might be hard to tell what kind of item this is
from the photos alone, haha.
To explain simply, it is an item that
docks a short-sleeved knit with large side slits
onto a long-sleeved knit.
I’ve seen a lot of items, but I’ve never
seen anything like this before!
It's not just docking knits; the large side slits
mean the shape isn't fixed, allowing you to
change the silhouette freely!
When I saw this item, I was shocked.
I've seen docked items before, but never
a knit this playful.
The design is attractive, but what’s truly
amazing is how well it incorporates the
seasonal concept of "changing clothes."
That moment when you’re taking off or
putting on a T-shirt, and it gets all "bunched up"
as it passes over your head—that sensation
is reflected in the design.
It’s not just layered; the details, expressed
from the perspective of "changing clothes,"
are incredibly interesting.
Apparently, Mr. Matsuhashi recorded himself
changing clothes on video, and designed it
while observing those movements and gestures.
When I heard that, I wanted it even more, haha.
When you think about it, "layering" is something
you only do when you want to be stylish,
and with the heat increasing year by year due to
global warming, this act might eventually disappear.
Thinking of it that way, it feels "human"
and truly endearing.
Because it’s an item that isn't bound by rules
and has no single right way to wear it,
I want you to enjoy it in your own way,
depending on your mood!
There's only one RED left already, so
if you're interested, act fast—but I want it too,
so I'll stop pushing it, haha.
