Hello! I’m Haru, a fashion fanatic!!
On a personal note,
I had a wonderful encounter at the shop the other day.
I happened to be working the floor alone that day,
when a customer from overseas stopped by.
At first, I was nervous, thinking, "Oh man, I can't speak English!!"
but I had an intuitive feeling that "This person really loves clothes."
As we talked little by little using a translation app,
we hit it off, and before I knew it,
we were on a first-name basis.
Two people who had just met and didn't even know each other's names until a moment ago were laughing together.
The thing that created that spark was "fashion."
Even though we were born in different countries and speak different languages,
because we both love fashion,
we found common ground,
something that transcends even borders.
The power of fashion is truly amazing.
It doesn't just make you look stylish;
it forms connections with people you would never have met otherwise,
and enriches your life.
That is why,
I am reminded once again that I want sign to be a place
that can continue to offer everyone such wonderful sparks.
Back to the story,
as I was thinking about what might look good on that overseas guest,
a "certain item" came to mind.
When I brought it out from the back,
he laughed and said, "Amazing!!," looking very intrigued.
Then, he applauded and praised it, saying, "Crazy."
Honestly, ever since this item arrived,
I've also thought it was outrageously stylish and wild, haha.
It's a special piece that lets the world know what Japanese fashion is,
and one that completely knocked out this overseas fashionista.
It is...
LES SIX
-Third Way Tent Jacket-
It’s a wide-silhouette military outer piece
that arguably has the most presence
of anything in the shop.
While LES SIX is a brand known for
many avant-garde items,
this particular piece shines with a unique brilliance.
It’s stylish, yet it has an overwhelming aura
that makes you think, "What on earth is this?!"
and keeps everything else at arm's length.
I've seen many items in my time,
but I've rarely come across something so purely
dedicated to being stylish.
Featuring a unique camouflage cotton fabric as the main material,
with a glossy, smooth burgundy fabric used for the lining,
it is more than just an impactful item;
it’s a piece thought through in every detail,
from the material and color to the overall balance.
It features large-capacity inner pockets on both sides of the chest,
and the padding uses Thinsulate, a high-performance material
researched and developed by 3M™.
Combining microfiber that is about the same thickness
as the tip of a down feather with polyester fiber,
it traps plenty of air,
providing excellent insulation and heat retention.
In preparation for writing this blog, I tried it on again,
and it really is incredibly cool!!
General brands, such as fast fashion,
choose designs that almost anyone can wear,
but domestic brands tend to be more
focused on fashion itself,
offering designs that respect individuality and focus on trends.
While they set a certain range of acceptance from a general perspective,
they channel the brand's unique personality and the message they want to convey
into the pieces they propose to us,
but LES SIX is different.
In addition to designer Ryohei Kawanishi, who has long been active in London and New York in various fields,
it is a collective of creators with different backgrounds,
including tailors, metal engravers, jewelers, craftsmen, leather workers,
graphic designers, and creative directors.
That is why I think so many people are drawn to LES SIX,
as they resonate with their commitment to making things they truly find cool
without bowing to the trends of the times.
Of course, I am drawn not only to the designs released by LES SIX,
but also to the underlying spirit of rebellion,
and their minority-oriented items created for the "individual"
rather than the masses.
That’s why, if you wear this in town,
you’ll get noticed, and you might even
get laughed at.
"So what if people laugh?"
To be able to take a few seconds of life from a stranger
you just passed by and hijack their thoughts
is normally impossible.
Celebrities can draw eyes without doing anything,
but if you're wearing normal clothes, that doesn't happen,
and when you think about it calmly, I think that's incredible.
The initial feelings of finding it unfamiliar or feeling embarrassed to wear it eventually fade,
and before you know it, the item becomes a part of your own personality,
as you think about "how to style it."
Coming from me, the guy who bought a tattered pair of LES SIX jeans (180,000 yen), you can take my word for it, haha.
I think this item is meant to be picked up only by those who truly understand it.
It might sound a bit sharp, but since you only live once,
if you take a bold step and give it a challenge,
your world should start to change.
