Alright! Today I’m going to introduce an outerwear piece that I really want to recommend for this cold time of year!!
Let’s get straight to the item introduction...
OUAT
-POLAR JACKET-
This is the new addition to the boa series that OUAT releases every season!
Actually, this season, OUAT is the only brand we’re carrying with boa material.
We had a few items made of boa from other brands,
and we talked about carrying them,
but none of them really felt like "this is the one!"
so there was a moment where we were struggling with the decision.
The premise of the items we select here at sign is that they must be basic and long-lasting,
but at the same time, if they’re too universal,
they lack character.
That’s why we carefully examine and select items with a bit of an accent,
but boa material is surprisingly difficult.
It can feel casual—like military or outdoor gear—
or it's often seen in women's wear,
so it carries a variety of images, with some people feeling like it's too cute.
A few seasons ago, boa material was trendy and easy to propose,
but now that things have settled down and there are fewer people looking for it, we were thinking we might skip it this year...
However! When we went to the OUAT exhibition, the whole staff saw the boa blouson and went, "This is it!" and immediately confirmed we were stocking it lol
OUAT items really lean into the aesthetic that clothing lovers enjoy,
while exuding that unique, profound atmosphere of vintage wear.
It retains both the casual impression of boa and that soft, cute look,
elevating it into a one-of-a-kind piece.
Plus, if you pair it with the slacks that we at sign excel at offering, you can enjoy it with a more modern vibe,
keeping it from being too stiff while adding a soft touch.
Boa blousons, in particular, have a fixed image often associated with Patagonia,
which tends to lean casual, but because it’s OUAT proposing this boa,
they've updated the essence of used clothes and vintage for the "modern" day,
making it much easier to pick up.
We pursue clothing that not only can be worn now, but has the value to potentially become vintage decades down the line.
Because it’s a piece you can enjoy for a long time, we decided to carry this OUAT boa blouson!!
The fabric features POLARTEC high-loft fleece, known for its surprisingly smooth texture and high heat retention.
POLARTEC is a long-established fabric manufacturer,
and since they use trusted materials that are well-regarded in outdoor activities like mountaineering,
you know it’s a sure thing lol
OUAT’s attention to detail isn’t just in the fabric; they’ve incorporated characteristic details like luxurious zipper closures and meta-pockets, blending them into a contemporary design.
I like wearing a sax blue shirt underneath, and since it’s a double zip, it’s nice to let a little color peek through.
Of course, it has a wide range of styling options, like pairing it with denim,
making it the perfect item for this cold season!
